About FitMyTrainer & our methodology

FitMyTrainer is a data tool: every page is a compatibility computation over verified specifications — never spun prose. This page explains exactly how the answers are produced so you can trust them.

How we determine what fits

Compatibility is a three-way match: your bike’s rear axle standard (QR vs 12×142 vs Boost 12×148), the freehub body the trainer can run (Shimano/SRAM HG, SRAM XD/XDR, Shimano Micro Spline, Campagnolo), and your cassette speed. For every trainer we record which axle standards the included end-caps and adapters cover, which freehub bodies are included or sold separately, and whether a cassette ships in the box. The checker and every setup page compute their verdicts live from those recorded fields — nothing is hand-written per page.

Where our data comes from

Every trainer’s fields are verified against the manufacturer’s own spec pages and manuals, cross-checked with established cycling-tech publications; the sources used are listed on each trainer page. Unknown values are marked unconfirmed or excluded — never guessed. We do not fabricate hands-on testing or review scores; the value here is aggregated, verifiable data, not opinion.

Who runs FitMyTrainer

FitMyTrainer is operated by Rafał Bajda. It is an independent reference site, not affiliated with any trainer manufacturer. Some outbound links may be affiliate links (see the affiliate disclosure) — they never change which trainers we list or the data we show.

How often we update

The trainer database is reviewed and expanded as new models launch, and fields are re-verified against the sources on update. Dataset figures across the site (including the compatibility report) recompute automatically from the live data. This methodology was last reviewed on 2026-06-26.
